“YEEZY MADE ME DO IT”
The first thing that went through my mind while writing this blogpost was; “Was it a clever choice to wear this Yeezy t-shirt after all the weird (that’s the least you can say about it) statements or critics Kanye West threw on Twitter?” “And how does fashion influence your standards and values? Or political choices? For example, I am a big, big animal lover and maybe the number one fan off all kind animals and I will NEVER wear fur. But how do you know that the faux fur you wear, is really 100 % fake? I think we will never will. Sure you could think now “What about the angora jumpers you wear?” Indeed, you’re right but I’m trying to make the right choices when it comes to buying clothes, to make sure no animals had to be hurt. I even pay attention to my makeup choices, I always opt for a cruelty free brand. I swear I sign every single petition that appears on Facebook about subjects like this. That’s the least I can do. If you want to know more about this particular subject, I suggest you should go check out Peta then.
But enough about this painful topic and more about mister Yeezy or Pablo or Kanye West. You get my point. You have to admit even if your not a fan of his music or clothing line, that he accomplished a lot. From a rapper to a designer who brings his line to New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week is a big deal. Not to mention several shows from big, respected names in the fashion industry had to be rescheduled just for his. And don’t forget his sneakers in collaboration with Adidas who are sold out everywhere after just 10 minutes. That’s major. Who doesn’t take a look, just a sneak peek, at his latest collections? I think a lot of you have to admit that. This particular t-shirt is one of my favorites for over a year now and I don’t know what I like about it so much but there’s something about it. Maybe because some “hot” fashionista’s even wear this to fashion week with a bomber jacket and are fully dressed? No accessoires needed. But if you wear this publicly, some of you can get the wrong message. That you support every single decision that this person makes or in this case “says”. And that’s not the case, at least not with me.
Just in case, if you do know brands who do test on animals or you are sure that they are 100 % animal tested free, let me know! I would like to hear from you guys.
